In 2012, 2015, and again in 2019 Roger was awarded the "Best Recording Engineer" Award by the New Mexico Music Industry. From 2000 to date he continues to arrange music for small groups to big bands for both recording and live performance. In 1997-98 he conducted several of his original compositions with the Outpost Repertory Jazz Orchestra. He has been with ES Audio since the beginning and has been the driving force to getting things done and keeping things running smooth. Touring as an engineer for almost 13 years and then moving into the studio. Donny has been in the music business for most of his adult life. From 1990-1995 he operated Winfield Sound Studios in Albuquerque and won many NM Music Industry Colilition Awards. Donny Baker: Studio Manager / Lead TEch / Mix engineer. Now residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he continues to arrange, produce, and perform. Baker Sound Studios is an award-winning audio production facility located in Center City Philadelphia. He also produced the Cable TV Series, New England Country Video Showcase. Studios, where he was chief engineer and recorded such names as Tracey Chapman, Grey Sargent (of the Tony Bennett band), Jeff Stout (of the Buddy Rich band), Alan Dawson, as well as doing production work for National Public Radio. In 1972, with three other partners, he opened Hub Recording Studios where he recorded many albums, movie soundtracks, and TV shows, among them the children’s show, “Zoom.” In 1976 he opened his own studio, Baker St. During his years at Berklee he continued to write and perform, working with such names as Patti LaBelle, Little Joe Cooke, Bobby Rydell, The Tymes, The Coasters, and Little Richard.Īfter graduation he taught arranging at the JDS School of Music in Boston and led his own sixteen piece concert jazz band, the Boston Jazz Co-op. In high school he studied the tenor Saxophone and began playing sax and guitar in dance bands, crossing the threshold to “professional.” He graduated from Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts in 1969 with a degree in Arranging and Composition. By age twelve he was taking piano lessons. Roger first learned to play trumpet from his father, a Dixieland and Big Band trumpeter.
