![]() They were among the first to stream portions of concerts online. ![]() This was early on with the technology and it wasn’t pretty, but they gave us a view we hadn’t seen before. I logged in and saw them recording backing vocals and drums…not the fun stuff like lead vocals and guitar. They streamed live footage of their recording of the CD online. With “Crush”, they did something few bands were doing yet at that time. They built their email list to send newsletters and announcements. They’ve launched many iterations of their website with each new CD. They’ve embraced digital marketing and social media. It didn’t feel or sound like a stunt or quick money grab. They described it as Bon Jovi music with a Nashville flavor. A move like that has killed many bands, but Bon Jovi had an authenticity to the music. But, the CD is actually one of their better CD’s, I say begrudgingly. I wasn’t a huge fan of it at the time as I’m not a country music fan at all. They even crossed over into the country music world…and did it well. The band even donated $1 million to Oprah Winfrey’s charity on her show.ĭuring this time, they continued to release new CD’s and sell out arenas around the world. Jon bought the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League and used them to further enhance his charitable missions. They began multiple philanthropic efforts to help those affected by 9/11 and homelessness. Jon Bon Jovi began appearing everywhere in politics, business and general celebrity. They were sharing the stage with the biggest names in rock royalty and standing proud. When all the artists came out to sing with Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi planted himself right behind him. At the concert for New York, they played an incredible set. They weren’t the only ones, but they may have been the most visible. Bon Jovi was front and center offering support and doing what they could to help those suffering. Tragedy struck in the form of 9/11 shortly after. People were noticing their longevity and ability to flourish by staying true to who they were. This amidst another shift in the music scene…this time known for boy bands and Brittany Spears. After another hiatus that saw Jon Bon Jovi explore acting, they roared back with “It’s My Life” from their “Crush” CD. ![]() The CD sold well, despite a changing music scene.įast forward to 2000 with their next “come back”. After a band break (and some band therapy), they returned with “chapter 2.” Now, with a more socially conscious approach to lyrics. Their brand transformation started with their “Keep the Faith” CD in 1992. Add their philanthropy to that and it’s easy to see why the evolution worked.Įven my cat, Echo, can’t keep her eyes off of Bon Jovi! But, their image in the hair band scene evolved with a multitude of new anthems and never-give-up messaging. Not the songs mind you, “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” still hold up all these years later. ![]() They’ve completely lost their association with that era. They’ve done more than grow up from the hair band days. When you think of Bon Jovi these days, a far different image comes to mind than in the ’80’s. Second, they’ve embraced digital marketing and the opportunities it has created for them. First, they managed to transform their brand image while also staying true to who they are. From a marketing standpoint, there are two things that Bon Jovi does better than any band besides the Beatles. They have enjoyed even larger success in the 2000’s than in their 80’s “heyday”. Celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, Bon Jovi went from the darlings of MTV to a global band. As I posted a couple of weeks ago, rock artists can teach us a lot about marketing. ![]() Regina Leader-Post | Obituaries Regina, SK Change City All Notice Types Obituaries Memorials Other Sympathy Announcements Obituaries Sort Most Recent Filter Anytime Stories per page View Grid List Displaying 52065 Stories Eva Raiwet 2023 Obituary Charles BEANLAND Obituary Randy Olynyk Obituary Alwyn LUKOVSZKI Obituary Roseanna Welcome to the Complete Saskatchewan Weather Site Choose from the list of Saskatchewan cities and towns listed below to be directed to that locations current Sun, 12 Feb. Some remains have been dated to be between 30,000 and 500 years old. These locations are primarily within the Southern and Eastern parts of South Island. Bones of the Haast’s eagles have been recovered from more than 50 different sites since. The remains of Hieraaetud moorei were first discovered in Glenmark Estate by Fredrick Richardson Fuller, who was a museum taxidermist. While this might sound strange, the massive size of the eagle and its immense strength would have made it possible. Humans may have also hunted Haast’s eagles for their bones, which they might have converted inconverted into working and hunting tools.Īccording to some local legends, the Haast’s eagle could kill humans. Human activities also destroyed the dry mosaic forests and shrublands, the eagles’ favored habitat. The Haast’s eagle, along with many other bird species on the island (including the moa), became extinct shortly after the arrival of the Māori.Īlthough humans probably didn’t hunt the eagles actively for food, they competed for the same prey. There were no other large bird predators, allowing the species to thrive for many years. The major threat to their existence came when humans arrived on the island. The Haast’s eagle was the most dominant predator in its native habitat. A Māori oral legend from the 1800s claimed that the Haast’s eagle remained in the mountains until it became extinct. The last glaciation event on the island forced the Hasst’s eagle to retreat to the mountain region of the Southern Alps. It seemed that the bird preferred to live in the drier parts of the island and the Eastern region of the Southern Alps. Its short wingspan was an adaptation that allowed it to survive and hunt actively in the dense forests and scrubland of New Zealand where it lived. The last of them probably went extinct in the 1400s. ![]() Hasst’s Eagle lived during the Pleistocene to Late Holocene on the South Island of New Zealand. They had powerful beaks, and experts think they used their beaks to rip out the internal organs of game like vultures do. The moa functioned like deer and cattle in other habitats, while Haast’s eagles were the top predators.ĭuring a hunt, this bird’s enormous talons dug into its prey’s body, causing death by blood loss. Birds were abundant, with flightless grazers like the moa in considerable numbers. Land mammals found on the island were comprised primarily of a few bat species. This is quite remarkable, considering the moa was up to fifteen times larger than the eagle! The diet of the Hieraaetus moorei may have also included the South Island goose as well as duck and rail species found on the island. It was a supreme hunter that fed primarily on large flightless birds in its native habitat, including the moa. Like all eagles, Haast’s eagle was carnivorous. According to local legends, Haast’s eagles had black and white feathers with a red crest and yellow-green wingtips. There have been suggestions that the giant eagle was either bald or had very short feathers on its head. Long tails reaching up to 50 centimeters (20 inches) in females compensated for the bird’s short wings and provided an extra lift. For an image in a vertical StackLayout, HeightRequest should be avoided. You can also set the HeightRequest to make the image sizes consistent on the platforms, but the constrained width of the bitmap will limit the versatility of this technique. It's often desirable to size bitmaps consistently among all the platforms.Įxperimenting with StackedBitmap, you can set a WidthRequest on the Image element in a vertical StackLayout to make the size consistent among the platforms, but you can only reduce the size using this technique. This class only loads resources from the assembly in which it's located, so it can't be placed in a library. A markup extension named ImageResourceExtension helps to reference the embedded resource in XAML. The StackedBitmap sample puts an Image in a vertical StackLayout in XAML. On most devices, each bitmap pixel occupies multiple screen pixels.
